Black and Jones.
It's a pairing that has proven a fruitful partnership, inspiring two Clarksville artists to see anew.
Kell Black and Barry Jones, both art professors at Austin Peay State University, opened their latest collaboration, "2001 Retold," with a reception and lecture Thursday.
This work is completely different from my solo work, completely different from Kell's solo work, in good ways -Barry Jones

The event — hosted by Save Our Children's Future Foundation — featured bands, singers and dancers from across Florida and Georgia to spur donations and raise support for victims of Haiti's January earthquake, said Kerceus Andre, foundation director.
"It's for people to come out and enjoy some good music and remember Haiti," he said.

I haven't gotten my "hip-hop journalist" on in a while. so if you don't mind, I would like to do that now.
Each morning I pack my backpack with my laptop, books, folders and whatever else I need for the day's endeavors on campus.
More important than all of those things though are my Sony headphones.

That paper bag analogy has a specific reference point.
Big Star, which Chilton formed in 1970 with the late Chris Bell, Andy Hummel and Jody Stephens, was named after a Memphis Supermarket chain.
That group's indignantly loud and gorgeous power pop inspired more young rockers than did any other fairly obscure rock save that of the Velvet Underground.

Well, when all else fails…..
After two commercially-unsuccessful solo albums, former Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland plans to deviate from her roots as an R&B crooner and tackle disco for her upcoming third album.

They were so powerful and glam on stage and such a voice for women. I looked at them to take inspiration from and then thought of a way to make it my own -Kelly Rowland

Part sitcom, variety show and revival meeting, the touring stage show " Tyler Perry 's Madea's Big Happy Family" is a hodgepodge of styles that may not be art, or even well-crafted, but it still adds up to an entertaining, even soul-satisfying experience for fans of the entertainment mogul's movies, DVDs and TV series.
Much of the show presented Thursday night at Bridgeport's Harbor Arena — and playing today and Sunday at Hartford's Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts — is like a broad sitcom.
